Return from Haitus and New Posting Schedule

Good afternoon, everyone!

I’d like to apologize for leaving the comic for so long. I’ve had some health problems, which very nearly cost me the university term. It’s a long story, but I’m pleased to announce that I’m doing much better! My partner-in-crime and I have a lot of dialogue written, which I will be illustrating over the next week, and scanning into the queue around mid-month.

With that said, my new health situation and university obligations have necessitated a change in posting schedule.

We will have weekly scheduled episodes every Friday evening at 7PM Pacific time. I’m hoping to begin posting new pages on June 17th, 2016. I’ll post something that day either way, even if it’s just a filler page – but I sincerely hope to be back into the story by then! I’m looking forward to jumping back into work!

Again, I sincerely apologize. Some of you may be aware that I have a health condition that causes chronic pain due to a car accident back in 2014. That condition has recently deteriorated and for quite a while, I was unable to sit up for extended periods of time, let alone leave my house for anything other than school. This contributed to a lot of depression and anxiety issues, which contributed to the pain, and so on. It was never my intention to abandon the story less than half way into the introductory chapter!

So, thank you so much for your patience. We’ll be back online very soon! In the meantime, hold on tight, we’re getting ready to roll. Please keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times. We are not responsible for injuries or lost property while in the park. Unattended children will be given espresso and a free kitten (we’re all out of puppies) before being sent to the cupcake buffet.

Prepare yourselves.

We’ll be back around New Year’s Eve. I’m sorry I haven’t been posting, life happened. We’ve got material that just needs to be drawn/scanned/lettered, but there aren’t enough hours in a day. Thanks for your continued patience and support.

Apologies for missing a comic yesterday!

Hi there. I thought I had a comic scheduled for yesterday, but it seems I’ve run out my backlog already. I have a good excuse, though!

On Monday, Canada had a federal election. This was a very important event, because our previous Prime Minister was a pompous coward. There was a very real chance that if he’d gotten back into office, we’d find ourselves spiraling downward into the oblivion of a dictatorship masquerading as democracy. With that in mind, I threw a large amount of my energy into volunteering with the election through the office of a smart and kind man who got re-elected to Parliament, thus becoming MP once more.

Unfortunately, being a person who suffers chronic pain in addition to multiple mental health conditions, my energy is limited. For those of you who haven’t seen it, I recommend reading The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino. You can find it here. I have found this piece to be an excellent tool for explaining to people why I might seem perfectly fine, even almost “normal,” one day, but the next day I could be exhausted, in too much pain to get out of bed, having anxiety attacks, or experiencing other symptoms that prevent me from being much use at all. My own disability isn’t Lupus, but the concept works for all disabilities. (I have arthritis in my spine due to an injury, and a recent CT scan revealed a bone spur that may or may not be putting pressure on my spinal cord. This is in addition to mental health conditions diagnosed in my teens – Pediatric Onset Bipolar 1 Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Social Anxiety – and hearing loss caused by a genetic defect, which was diagnosed when I was 3 years old.)

Suffice to say, the volunteer work I did not only required that I borrow against the next day’s “spoons,” it required that I borrow against several days’ allotment of spoons. I have been barely functional since arriving home on Monday night.

None of this is an excuse – I knew I needed to get more content finished before Election Day. I did not do this. I have material – I have the basic story work for a good chunk of chapter one finished. But is it drawn, inked, coloured, and scanned? Heck no!

This is my own fault. I apologize, sincerely and deeply. I promise I will not only have a page ready tomorrow, but I will have some bonus art to add in the coming days as well!

I want to have enough comics by Halloween that I don’t have to work all November. That’s National Novel Writing Month, and I will have unholy amounts of work to do when THAT rolls around!

So once again, I apologize. I will do better next time.

Safe Travels!

Posting schedule

Good afternoon, everyone!

Claire here. I just want to drop a note on posting schedules.

We’re going to be using a loose 3-days-a-week schedule for now, to see how it goes. If I can keep up with the work well enough to maintain a two-week backlog of comics ready for publication on this schedule, it’ll stay that way. If not, we’ll back off until I can maintain it.

So I’m thinking our normal schedule will be Monday-Wednesday-Friday with occasional bonus pages/artwork in between (bonuses will be announced in both the installment previous to and after it appears)

Apart from that, keep an eye out as this site continues to evolve! I’m hoping to get an FAQ section up and running (even though I haven’t received any questions yet. I suppose that would make it more of an “anticipated questions” page.)

I guess that’s about all I needed to mention here.

Safe Travels,

Claire Aednat
